Ghanaian media personality Kobby Kyei has opened up about the long-standing rumours linking him romantically to actress and TV host Nana Ama McBrown, describing the speculation as both surprising and humbling.
Speaking in an interview with the Headless YouTuber, Kobby Kyei said he was initially shocked that people could genuinely believe he was dating McBrown, insisting that apart from working closely with her, there was never anything romantic between them.
He explained that the rumours stemmed from their professional relationship and the mutual respect they share.
Recalling one of the moments that strengthened his admiration for the actress, Kobby Kyei said McBrown once asked him to hold her drink at an event while she stepped away.
“That moment was a signal to me that I had to cherish this woman and go all out for her. That’s where my respect and love for her catapulted because it showed she trusted me,” he said.
Kobby noted that his dedication to supporting McBrown’s work may have contributed to the public’s perception that they were romantically involved.
Despite repeatedly debunking the rumours, he admitted that he eventually saw them as a compliment.
“Even though I debunked the rumour, it was actually a humbling moment for me. It made me feel like I was doing something right and carrying myself responsibly for people to even think that,” he said.
He, however, stressed that the idea of dating McBrown was unrealistic, saying the actress is someone he deeply respects and that he has no intention of jeopardising his own marriage over baseless speculation.
“I can’t walk around saying I’m dating McBrown. Please, let me keep my wife. We’re going somewhere,” he added.
