Apenkwa road repairs to end in three to four days – MCE

The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has assured motorists that repair works on the Accra-bound section of the Apenkwa Interchange will be completed within the next three to four days.
Municipal Chief Executive, Christian Tetteh Badger, said contractors working on the stretch were making progress and would soon complete the emergency repairs.
The assurance follows persistent complaints from motorists about the deplorable condition of the road, which has contributed to traffic congestion and increased travel times, particularly during peak hours.
In an interview with Citi News, Mr Badger said the ongoing works formed part of efforts to address the immediate challenges contributing to congestion along the stretch.
“When you check the new Achimota overhead bridge coming from the Kantanka showroom junction, they are about to do some overlay of the asphalt because they have put the first rough coat, which I believe is good work. It is not a long-term project, it is just a short-term sort of emergency response to fix the road so that we stop getting that traffic from Apenkwa to Pokuase, which is a serious situation for everybody.
“They will not keep long. Within the next three or four days, I believe the whole place will be fixed. Motorists should just be patient with them. Anytime they find them on the street doing their work at midnight, when they give the direction signs, they should comply and obey.”
Mr Badger also urged motorists to cooperate with the contractors, particularly when temporary traffic management measures are introduced during the works.
