After getting the gold, you will get thirsty – Kwaku Bonsam explains why galamsey boys are dying

Nana Kwaku Bonsam has claimed that recent deaths at illegal mining sites are connected to the pollution of water bodies, saying traditional spiritual forces are punishing miners for destroying rivers.

Speaking on Onua TV, the traditionalist said the rivers have spiritual powers and respond to what people do to them.

“Nananom that are killing them. That’s because they’re polluting our water bodies,” he stated.

He explained that water is not just a natural resource but also a spirit that listens and responds to what people say or do.

“Water is a spirit; when you talk, it listens and it does whatever you want it to do for you. That’s why when someone curses with water, it actually manifests,” he said.

Kwaku Bonsam said miners who go to the rivers to seek permission to take gold may receive that permission without revealing that they intend to destroy the water bodies.

“When you go and tell the gods that there’s gold in the water so they should permit you to take it, they have no idea you’re coming to pollute the water, so they would allow you to get it,” he noted.

He added that the spiritual forces do not belong to humans but can still respond when invoked.

“Deity is not ours, but when you curse with it, it will work,” he said.

Kwaku Bonsam said the consequences of destroying the rivers could eventually affect the miners themselves.

“But after getting the gold, you will get thirsty,” he added.
