‘Don’t waste your money, you won’t win’ – Prophet warns Captain Smart over MP bid

Prophet Kwabena Okumdom, a renowned Ghanaian seer, has claimed that media personality Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, will be unsuccessful in his bid to become a Member of Parliament (MP).

The renowned Ghanaian seer advised the media personality to reconsider spending heavily on his campaign, urging him to save his money instead, as he believes the expenditure will not yield the desired results.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Prophet Okumdom said Captain Smart would lose the election because, according to his spiritual revelation, it is not yet time for the media personality to enter Parliament.

According to him, in the spiritual realm, he sees the National Democratic Congress (NDC), under whose ticket Captain Smart intends to contest for the parliamentary seat, giving him a “showdown” during the party’s internal contest.

He explained that the fallout from the contest would eventually lead Captain Smart to contest the parliamentary election as an independent candidate.

He believes such a move would split the NDC’s votes and ultimately hand the parliamentary seat to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The prophet further predicted that Captain Smart could only become a Member of Parliament in 2032, as he would be unsuccessful in his attempt in 2028.

“This is not the time for Captain Smart to become a Member of Parliament. He will lose the election, so instead of spending money on the campaign, he should save it because, at all costs, he will lose the election. In the realm of the spirit, I see the NDC giving him a showdown. After that, he will contest as an independent candidate, which will split the NDC votes and ultimately hand the seat to the NPP,” he stated.

Captain Smart declares intention to contest NDC parliamentary primaries

In July 2026, Captain Smart announced his intention to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries in the Gomoa West Constituency.

The outspoken broadcaster expressed confidence in his chances of winning the party’s parliamentary primaries and subsequently securing victory in the 2028 general election to become the Member of Parliament for the constituency.

Captain Smart said the concerns of residents in the constituency had gone unheard for too long, stressing the need for responsive and effective leadership.

He also pointed to a number of initiatives he claims to have supported in the constituency as part of his contribution to its development.

Among the initiatives he mentioned were the provision of 42 boreholes, ten six-unit classroom blocks, free Wi-Fi and free Ghana Cards, among other interventions.

“We already have 42 boreholes, ten six-unit classroom blocks, free Wi-Fi, free Ghana Cards and other interventions.”
