GH¢15 KFC queues expose economic hardship among Ghanaians – Kosi Dedey

Policy analyst and engineer Kosi Dedey has raised concerns about the economic conditions facing ordinary Ghanaians, citing the massive queues generated by a recent GH¢15 KFC promotion as an indication of financial hardship.
Speaking on Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV on Wednesday, August 19, Kosi Dedey said the willingness of customers to spend hours in line for a discounted meal should prompt a deeper conversation about household incomes and living standards.
He argued that the situation challenges claims of economic recovery, particularly if improvements in key economic indicators are not translating into better living conditions for citizens.
“The quality of life of people has largely declined, and this is reflected in what we saw during the KFC promotion
“If people for 15 cedi can spend hours in a queue, it tells you something. Something is not right. So, these are clear indicators that, look, we are not really delivering on the promise we make to the people,” he said.
KFC Ghana marked its 15th anniversary with a special GH¢15 meal promotion on Saturday, August 15, attracting hundreds of customers to its branches across the country.
The limited-time offer included one piece of chicken, tenders, and small chips, drawing significant crowds as customers sought to take advantage of the discounted price.
