Nigerian Afrobeats star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P and formerly one half of the celebrated P-Square duo, has released a new single titled “I Love You Because,” adding another chapter to his ongoing solo music journey.
The song was officially released on August 7, 2026, and serves as one of the latest offerings from Mr. P ahead of his forthcoming solo album, “OG Forever.” The record is now available across major digital streaming platforms.
“I Love You Because” presents Mr. P in a romantic and reflective mood, with the singer celebrating the qualities that make a special woman worthy of love and commitment. Rather than focusing solely on physical attraction, the song highlights themes of self-respect, emotional maturity, loyalty and genuine companionship.
The release comes shortly after Mr. P’s earlier 2026 single, “I Can’t Look Away,” as he continues to build anticipation for “OG Forever.” The two releases demonstrate his determination to maintain a strong presence as a solo artiste after his highly successful years with P-Square.
The accompanying music video adds an even more personal dimension to the song. Featuring Nollywood actors Stan Nze and Blessing Nze, the visual tells a warm story about love and companionship, portraying the beauty of relationships through everyday moments such as spending time together, sharing meals and enjoying each other’s company.
A particularly emotional moment comes toward the end of the video, where a portrait of Mr. P’s wife, Lola Omotayo-Okoye, is revealed. The scene has been interpreted by fans as a personal tribute to his wife and the relationship they have maintained over the years. Lola later shared a clip of the song on her Instagram Story, adding another layer of attention to the release.
Mr. P’s return with “I Love You Because” also comes at a time when the singer remains a major talking point in Nigerian entertainment. Having achieved continental success with P-Square alongside his twin brother Paul Okoye, he has continued to establish his own identity and catalogue as a solo performer.
While the new release has received attention from fans, reactions have not been entirely unanimous. Some listeners have praised its romantic message, while others have questioned whether the record matches the impact of some of Mr. P’s earlier work.
Nevertheless, “I Love You Because” represents an important part of Mr. P’s current musical chapter. With “OG Forever” still generating anticipation, the veteran entertainer appears focused on reminding audiences that his journey as a solo artiste is far from over.
For fans of Mr. P and lovers of Afrobeats, “I Love You Because” is another opportunity to experience the singer’s familiar blend of melody, romance and performance-driven African pop as he continues to write the next chapter of his career.
