‘NPP caused Ghanaians pain’ – Mustapha Gbande

Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, has described the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as an “evil political party,” accusing the previous administration of inflicting hardship on Ghanaians during its eight years in office.
According to him, the current government must focus on creating opportunities for Ghanaians, particularly through employment and other economic initiatives.
He cited the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) as an example of an intervention he believes is already benefiting the country’s economy.
Speaking about the government’s efforts to create opportunities for Ghanaians, Gbande said the NPP’s eight-year administration had caused significant hardship.
“NPP is an evil party. The NPP’s eight years have caused us so much pain. We understand you cry; there are people who need jobs, there are people who need employment, there are people who want to get some benefits. If we do not work to create the opportunities, will the opportunities come?”
He also addressed concerns over appointments under the current administration, noting that President John Dramani Mahama’s government has a smaller ministerial team compared with previous administrations.
“This is the first time the Government of Ghana is running its affairs with 60 Ministers, so you see it is not everyone who can get an appointment. Any single person who has been appointed by President Mahama, you don’t necessarily have to come from Odododiodio, and Odododiodio is NDC,” he said.
Gbande also praised the establishment of GoldBod, arguing that Ghana had previously failed to derive sufficient benefits from its gold resources.
“The gold that we make from Ghana was not benefiting the people of Ghana. Today, President Mahama, when he came, put together GoldBod. Are we not seeing the benefits of GoldBod?” he asked.
