New Patriotic Party (NPP) first vice-chairman aspirant George Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah says the party’s support base among the business community has become fatigued and must be rebuilt ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Mr Abankwah-Yeboah, a former NPP treasurer, said the party must regain the confidence of business owners by presenting clear policies and assurances on how it intends to support the private sector.
“The business community now is getting a bit fatigued,” he said on Eyewitness News on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
He said the NPP must also listen to the concerns of business owners and incorporate their views into its reorganisation and policy development.
“If a government is coming into being and that government has policies that will help with their business, they will definitely support,” he said.
According to Mr Abankwah-Yeboah, restoring confidence among business people will be critical to the NPP’s efforts to rebuild its support base and return to government in 2028.
His comments come ahead of the NPP’s National Executive Elections scheduled for October 3, 2026, when delegates will elect new national officers as the party seeks to reorganise ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The positions to be contested include National Chairman, three Vice-Chairpersons, General Secretary, National Organiser, National Treasurer, National Women’s Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Nasara Organiser and National Communications Director.
