Work hard to reclaim all lost seats in 2028 – Achiase MP tells new NPP executives

The Member of Parliament for Achiase, Kofi Ahenkora Marfo, has urged the newly elected Eastern Regional executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to work tirelessly to reclaim all parliamentary seats lost by the party in the 2024 general elections.

According to him, restoring the NPP’s fortunes in the Eastern Region will be critical to the party’s ambition of returning to power in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, Ahenkora Marfo said the party could achieve this objective only if unity became the foundation of its activities at all levels.

He noted that although the NPP retained its dominance in the Eastern Region in the 2024 elections, the party suffered a significant decline in its share of the popular vote.

“The NPP won the Eastern Region, but our percentage dropped from about 62% to 51%. This should tell us that there is work to be done,” he said.

He therefore challenged the new regional leadership to intensify grassroots mobilisation, reconnect with voters and work towards reclaiming all parliamentary seats lost in the 2024 elections.

Ahenkora Marfo further stressed that merely reclaiming the lost seats would not be enough, urging the party to significantly increase its share of the popular vote in the region.

He said a strong performance in the Eastern Region, coupled with victories in other parts of the country, would strengthen the NPP’s prospects of winning the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The Achiase MP also called on the retained Eastern Regional Chairman, Jeff Konadu Addo, to rally the newly elected executives around a common purpose and build a cohesive and committed team capable of delivering victory for the party.

He emphasised that internal unity, discipline and hard work must guide the party’s operations ahead of the 2028 elections.

Ahenkora Marfo urged the executives to put aside internal differences and focus on rebuilding confidence among party supporters and the wider electorate.

He said the ultimate objective should be to build a united and formidable NPP in the Eastern Region, capable of delivering a decisive electoral victory for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in 2028.
