Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has come under criticism after a video from his World Cup thanksgiving party surfaced on social media.
The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper hosted the celebration at Oasis in Osu on August 30, 2026, to thank Ghanaians for their support following his impressive campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
A new video from the event shows Asare seated and engaged in conversation with Ghanaian actress Sylvia Davis and others.
Several ladies and models also reportedly attended the party to grace the occasion and share in the player’s success.
However, since videos from the event surfaced online, some social media users have expressed anger, criticising the goalkeeper for hosting such a party after a major tournament without achieving any significant success.
Others cautioned him to be wary of women as he approaches the twilight of his career, urging him to manage his finances prudently to avoid going bankrupt in the future, as has happened to other players.
Meanwhile, some defended Asare’s actions, arguing that he has worked hard to reach this level in his career and has every right to enjoy himself in a way that appeals to him.
Certain fans described the critics as “hypocrites,” insisting that Asare cannot be forced to decide how he enjoys his wealth, especially since his diligence earned him the money in the first place.

It’s so sad to see. Goalkeeping department is the most fickle position in the national team. He couldn’t even get a move abroad and he’s there misbehaving. All the money will go waste and he’ll be back to square one in few years.
