I can earn up to $1 million per show in Ghana – Shatta Wale claims

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has claimed that he can earn as much as $1 million for a single performance in Ghana, insisting that his success and wealth have been built within the country.
Speaking during a discussion with Adesope Olajide on the new Afrobeats Podcast, aired on June 7, 2026, Shatta Wale said he has always viewed himself as an international star and believes his career has been strategically managed to achieve such results.
“I’ve always seen myself as an international star, but I feel I just need to work on my stuff. If I tell you I can get paid up to $1 million per show in Ghana, you will ask how,” he said.
According to the musician, Ghana offers enormous opportunities for artistes who understand the country’s music culture and know how to position themselves.
“Ghana is a beautiful place where people understand the music culture, but it depends on who you meet and how your programming is to get those results,” he explained.
Shatta Wale further stated that, contrary to the belief that artistes must travel abroad to become wealthy, he made his fortune while living and working in Ghana.
The dancehall star also spoke about the level of respect he receives from influential figures in the country, including politicians, ministers and event organisers.
“I didn’t get rich anywhere; I got rich in Ghana. The respect I have from political parties, ministers and organisers is crazy for me in Ghana. Anybody that calls me in Ghana gives me the respect they would give to Jay-Z and Beyoncé,” he stated.
He noted that promoters invest heavily in his concerts, making it necessary for his team to deliver high-quality productions in return.
“Anything I need for my shows is done properly. I make so much money in Ghana that I feel so comfortable. I’ve been living that life for the past ten years,” he shared.
Shatta Wale further explained that although he is open to performing internationally, he is selective because promoters pay significant amounts for his performances, and he believes in giving them value for their investment.
“It’s not that I don’t want to move out of Ghana, but when promoters call, I explain to them. When I’m going for shows, we spend so much because the promoters pay so much, so we make sure we also give them their money’s worth,” he added.
