Three Hohoe E.P SHS students arrested over post-WASSCE vandalism

The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested three former students of Hohoe E.P. Senior High School for allegedly destroying school property after completing their final examinations.

The suspects were identified in a viral video showing them damaging the school’s water pipeline. The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, June 19, 2026, shortly after the students had written their final paper and were preparing to leave for their various homes.

According to a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, school authorities promptly lodged a complaint after about five students were captured on video allegedly vandalising the pipeline.

The suspects have been identified as Rashid Suraj Dakpo, 19; Alhassan Mohammed, 20; and Abdul Kadri Abdulai, 20.

They have since been handed over to the Regional Investigations Department to assist with investigations and are expected to face prosecution.

The Volta North Regional Police Command condemned the behaviour and cautioned students against such acts, describing it as unacceptable and increasingly common.

“Any student caught engaging in these acts will face the full rigours of the law,” the statement warned.

The statement noted that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the incident.

The Command has also appealed to parents, guardians, and teachers to continue educating their wards on the consequences of such destructive acts.
