Kwabenya Shooting: How the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo allegedly shielded Adwoa Safo from bullets

Nana Pomaa Nhyira, an aunt of the former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has shared details of a harrowing incident involving her niece, claiming that the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka played a spiritual role in shielding her from bullets during a shooting incident.
Speaking at a brief press conference at the 37 Military Hospital on June 23, 2026, Nana Pomaa Nhyira said Adwoa Safo had recounted experiencing what she described as a supernatural moment during the incident.
According to her, the former legislator said that each time shots were fired, she saw a bright light cover her face, and within that moment, she saw her late father standing in front of her and taking the bullets.
She added that the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka should also support the doctors in treating her niece, the former legislator, and ensure that she receives justice.
“Adwoa said that as the bullets were approaching, a bright light suddenly covered her face, and she saw Daddy (Apostle Kwadwo Safo) standing before her, taking the bullets. If he was able to shield her from the bullets and prevent them from harming her, then he should also support the doctors in healing her and ensure that she receives justice,” her aunt said.
The incident in question occurred on June 21, 2026, at a property linked to Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena in Kwabenya.
It is believed to be connected to an ongoing dispute over succession and leadership within the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of its founder, Apostle Professor Kwadwo Safo.
Prior to this account, a statement attributed to the Safo family alleged that Adwoa Safo had gone to enforce a court injunction aimed at stopping a planned installation ceremony for her brother as head of the church.
The family further claimed that gunshots were exchanged during the confrontation, resulting in injuries and damage to property.
