Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has waded into the conversation surrounding former MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, claiming that he has essentially ended his political future with his recent outbursts aimed at key members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking in an interview on Wontumi TV, and sighted by GhanaWeb on June 24, 2026, Ampaw urged NPP supporters to refrain from attacking Agyapong, arguing that the former Assin Central MP has already distanced himself from the party.
“Regarding the issue of Kennedy Agyapong, I would like to plead with party members to stop attacking him. Because no matter what, he is gone already; his spirit is not with the party anymore,” he said.
According to Ampaw, the former legislator’s association with businessman Oti Bonsu could further weaken his political standing within the NPP.
“Let me tell you something, Kennedy Agyapong, you have signed your political death warrant,” he said.
He further questioned the political influence of Oti Bonsu, insisting that he lacks the capacity to build a viable political movement outside the two dominant parties in Ghana.
“Because the Oti Bonsu that you are following is not a politician but a businessman. He separated himself from the NPP because of bitterness in him,” he said.
Ampaw also dismissed suggestions that a third political force could emerge to challenge the dominance of the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), arguing that Ghana’s political landscape remains firmly rooted in a two-party system.
“Nobody can come and overtake NPP and the NDC; it will never happen because the voting system in Ghana has been NPP and NDC, so there’s no third Force,” he stated.
