Gov’t settles end-of-service benefits for former MMDA officials

The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has announced that the government has fully settled the end-of-service benefits owed to former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembly (MMDA) officials across the country.
According to the Minister, the payment reflects the government’s commitment to honouring its obligations and ensuring that former local government officials receive the benefits due them after their tenure of service.
Mr. Ibrahim made the disclosure during a working tour of the Ga West, Ga East and Ga North Municipal Assemblies in the Greater Accra Region. The tour forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to assess projects and development initiatives undertaken by various assemblies since they assumed office.
The Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Local Government, the Chief Director of the Ministry, and other technical officials who joined him to inspect a number of development projects within the municipalities.
He emphasized that the settlement of the end-of-service benefits demonstrates government’s dedication to strengthening local governance and improving the welfare of public servants at the local level.
The working visit also provided an opportunity for the Ministry to evaluate the performance of the assemblies, monitor the utilisation of public funds, and assess the impact of ongoing development projects on local communities.
Mr. Ibrahim reiterated the government’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and effective service delivery, urging assemblies to continue implementing projects that improve the living standards of residents and contribute to national development.
