Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Awentami Afoko, has officially filed his nomination to contest the party’s upcoming National Officers Elections, pledging to make victory in the 2028 general elections a key priority of his leadership.
Mr Afoko, who is seeking to return to the position of National Chairman, submitted his nomination forms to the party’s Elections Committee as part of the process ahead of the October polls.
Speaking after filing his nomination, Mr Afoko acknowledged growing frustration and anger among some members of the NPP but expressed confidence that his leadership could restore hope and strengthen the party.
He said his campaign would focus on reaching out to delegates with a clear message while maintaining decency throughout the process.
Mr Afoko also stressed the need for unity and a stronger party structure as the NPP prepares for the 2028 general elections, which he identified as a major objective of his bid.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the NPP Elections Committee, Frederick Opare Ansah, assured all candidates of a fair and transparent electoral process.
He said the committee would provide a level playing field for all aspirants and resist any attempts to influence the process in favour of or against any candidate.
Mr Opare Ansah further assured the candidates that the committee would remain impartial and would not succumb to pressure, whether from within or outside the party.
