Titus Glover calls for Mintah Akandoh’s dismissal as Health Minister

Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, has called for the dismissal of Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, expressing strong concern over what he describes as poor management of health infrastructure projects, including the Weija Children’s Specialist Hospital.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam, Mr Glover said he was “amazed” at the situation surrounding the facility, alleging delays and tensions between the Health Minister and contractors working on the project.

“Look at the Weija Children’s Specialist Hospital. Because there’s indifference between Mintah Akandoh and the contractor, look at what is happening. I am really amazed,” he said.

He further criticised the minister’s handling of health sector projects, insisting that such leadership should not be tolerated.

“He should be the first person to be fired. They should fire; I’m telling you. Because what he is doing as a serious country, you should not allow this to happen,” Mr Glover added.

The former minister also referenced what he described as inconsistencies between political rhetoric and governance performance, saying the situation was disappointing given past opposition criticisms.

“He made so much noise in opposition but now see what is happening under his leadership. I’m telling you. I’m speaking with anger and pain. Because it can happen to me, it can happen to him,” he said.

His comments come in the wake of heightened political tension following an incident in which Minority Members of Parliament were reportedly turned away while attempting to inspect the abandoned Afari Military Hospital facility, a development that has further intensified scrutiny over stalled public health infrastructure projects.
