Lawyer and development advocate Sylvester Isang has declared his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the Nandom Constituency of the Upper West Region.
Speaking at a gathering of NPP members, traditional leaders and residents, Mr Isang said his decision was driven by his desire to contribute to the development of Nandom.
He recounted his humble beginnings, saying he worked on farms and construction sites to support his education and personally experienced some of the challenges confronting residents of the constituency.
Isang, who has been an NPP member since 1994, said he had actively supported the party in successive elections and believes his networks across the political divide would help him attract development opportunities to Nandom.
“I therefore wish to declare unreservedly my intention to run in the parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party when nominations are opened,” he said.
If elected, he pledged to support vulnerable groups, improve agricultural mechanisation, expand scholarship opportunities, improve access to water and healthcare, and create employment opportunities for young people.
He also proposed establishing a tractor service centre, linking farmers to profitable markets and providing support for brilliant but needy students.
Isang said his campaign would be issue-based and devoid of insults and character assassination.
He appealed to NPP members and the people of Nandom at home and abroad to support his bid to represent the constituency in Parliament.
