
The Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, has called on all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process during the’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) Regional Delegates Congress.
Addressing delegates, candidates and agents at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, where the Northern Regional NPP elections are being held, DCOP Lavoe warned that the Police would not tolerate any form of misconduct or violence.
He said about 300 police personnel have been deployed to provide security and maintain law and order throughout the electoral process.
According to him, the security personnel have been tasked to closely monitor the elections and deal firmly with anyone whose actions could disrupt the peace.
“In the past, similar elections have been characterised with issues here and there and it is for that reason that we are here this morning with all the men we have. So far 300 energetic police officers have been deployed for this exercise and I am assuring you that we are going to live up to expectation.
“I will be here myself to ensure there is orderliness and anybody that would like to take any chances will be dealt with. Let us adhere to all the protocols,” he cautioned.
