Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, Lawyer George Opare-Addo, has expressed confidence that he will have nothing to fear if there is a change of government, insisting that his record in public office does not expose him to corruption allegations.
Speaking on Oyerepa Radio, Lawyer Opare-Addo said his confidence was based on his record during his eight-year tenure as a Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), where, he said, no adverse findings were made against him.
“I am not scared or worried if the tables turn, because I am not corrupt,” he stated.
According to him, his time as an MCE did not result in any adverse findings against him, and he expects the same standard to apply to his current service as a government minister.
“I was an MCE for eight years; there was not one single adverse finding against me. After my current work, nobody will be able to point their finger at me,” he said.
Mr. Opare-Addo stressed that his decision to enter politics was motivated by a desire to serve rather than accumulate wealth, arguing that he would have chosen the private sector if financial gain had been his primary objective.
“I didn’t come to power to make money. If it is money I want, I would have joined the private sector. I came to serve,” he said.
He maintained that he has approached public service with diligence and believes his conduct should withstand scrutiny even if the political opposition returns to power.
“In my service, I am diligent. The NPP government, when they eventually come to power, can arrest me only if they find me guilty,” he stated.
Mr. Opare-Addo said he was not opposed to investigations or accountability, stressing that allegations alone should and would not be treated as proof of wrongdoing.
“They can put an allegation against me, but I have absolute confidence in the system,” he said.
He described himself as a simple person who prefers to maintain a quiet and private life, adding that he remains confident in his record and conduct in public office.
