Krobohene Nana Asa Akonpanin has praised members of his community for accepting Christianity after the ancestral deity believed to be protecting the town, “Ani Koko Bosom,” was reportedly stolen.
According to the chief, the disappearance of the deity left the community with no option but to turn to God and seek divine protection through prayer.
He said he consulted his elders following the incident and proposed that the community turn to God instead of continuing to worship the traditional deity.
The elders, he explained, agreed to the initiative, leading to a communal decision to dedicate the town to God.
Speaking to his subordinates, the chief said the community had experienced positive changes since turning to God.
“The gods that were protecting this town have been missing. Someone has stolen the gods, so how can the gods protect the town? As a result, I consulted my elders and told them that the whole town should now worship God instead of the gods.
“That is why we held prayers at the park and dedicated the town to God. Since that day, things have changed. We prayed for forgiveness and cleansing of the land, so I want to thank you all for agreeing to this initiative,” he said.
