NDC Activist Appears to Predict Chairman Wontumi Verdict Before Judgment Day
A social media post by NDC activist Nii Armah Amarteyfio has sparked controversy and raised eyebrows ahead of the scheduled judgment in the high-profile Samreboi case involving NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
The trial concluded on June 3, 2026, with the presiding judge setting July 3, 2026, as the date for delivering judgment. However, before the court could pronounce its verdict, Nii Armah Amarteyfio took to social media to suggest that Chairman Wontumi would be jailed.
The post immediately triggered intense debate online, with critics questioning how a political activist could appear so confident about the outcome of a case that is yet to be decided by the court.
The controversy deepened when the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) reportedly urged the activist in the comments section to delete the post. By then, however, screenshots had already been taken and circulated widely across social media platforms.
The development has fueled speculation and political commentary, with some observers expressing concern about public perceptions of judicial independence. Others argue that the activist may merely have been expressing a personal opinion rather than possessing insider knowledge.
