The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nana Akwasi, has appealed to the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) to abolish dues paid by branch executives, arguing that grassroots party officers receive little support despite their commitment to the party.
Speaking on Oyerepa Radio, he said many branch executives are struggling under the burden of dues while receiving little in return for their efforts and sacrifices.
“The branch executives are crying because they are dedicated people who are getting nothing from the party,” he stated.
According to him, branch executives form the backbone of the party’s grassroots structure and continue to work tirelessly to advance the party’s interests despite limited support.
He therefore urged the party leadership to reconsider the policy requiring them to pay dues.
“The dues with which they charge them should be stopped,” he appealed.
Nana Akwasi argued that the financial obligation is placing unnecessary pressure on branch executives, many of whom already devote their time and resources to party activities.
“Because the dues are putting pressure on the executives,” he added.
