The Akuapem Tech Summit 2026 is set to be officially launched on October 1, 2026, at the Peduase Valley Resort in the Eastern Region, as preparations intensify for the flagship digital transformation initiative aimed at positioning Akuapem as a leading innovation hub in Ghana and West Africa.
A key development in the rollout came after the Nifahene of the Akuapem Traditional Council, Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V, formally accepted an invitation to serve on the Governing Council of the Akuapem Tech Summit.
This followed a courtesy engagement held at his palace in Adukrom, where organisers briefed him on the vision and objectives of the summit.
The engagement was led by the Acting Chairman of the Akuapem Technology Secretariat, Benjamin Ofori, and included the Acting Director of Operations, Mr. Ayeh Akuffo, as well as Amb. Nana Aku Sika Okani (II), Acting Director for Sponsorships and Partnerships.
Officials of the Secretariat used the visit to present the Governing Council invitation letter and outline the Akuapem Tech Summit Policy Framework, as part of efforts to secure traditional backing for the Akuapem Silicon Ridge vision.
During the meeting, Mr. Ayeh Akuffo explained that the initiative is designed to drive long-term transformation through youth empowerment, digital skills development, and innovation-led growth.
“Our vision is to transform Akuapem into a thriving technology and innovation hub by empowering young people with digital skills, entrepreneurship opportunities, and access to emerging technologies,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the summit is not a one-time event but a sustained development platform aimed at attracting investment into education, agriculture and innovation across the Akuapem Ridge.
“The Akuapem Technology Secretariat is not just organizing a summit; we are building a long-term development platform that will attract investment into education, agriculture and innovation across the Akuapem Ridge,” he added.
Responding to the presentation, Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V welcomed the initiative and formally accepted his role on the Governing Council, describing the vision as one worth supporting.
“This is a vision worth supporting,” he said.
He further pledged his commitment to the initiative.
“I am ready to contribute my time and resources to support this vision and ensure its success,” he added.
The Nifahene also urged the Secretariat to maintain focus and ensure continuity beyond the initial development phase.
“Do not allow this initiative to end with the five-year plan. Build an institution that will continue to serve Akuapem for generations,” he advised.
The delegation assured the traditional council of its commitment to working closely with stakeholders to deliver a successful and impactful summit.
The meeting was attended by members of the Nifahene’s council and key dignitaries, including the Member of Parliament for Okere, Hon. Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth, alongside delegates from Pennsylvania in the United States, reflecting growing local and international interest in the initiative.
Inspired by the visionary leadership of the Okuapehene, His Majesty Oseadeɛyo Nana Kwasi Akuffo Ababio III, the Akuapem Tech Summit seeks to promote innovation, digital inclusion, youth empowerment and sustainable regional development.
The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide across Akuapem through access to technology, entrepreneurship opportunities, digital literacy, and multi-stakeholder collaboration involving government, academia, industry, investors, and the diaspora.
Organisers say the Akuapem Tech Summit 2026 will serve as a catalyst for transforming the Akuapem area into a competitive innovation ecosystem with long-term economic and social impact.
