The Gbese District Court has ordered the extradition of Daniel Yusif, the alleged accomplice of suspected romance fraud kingpin Abu Trica, to the United States to stand trial over an alleged US$8 million romance fraud scheme.
The court granted the extradition request on Friday, July 24, 2026, and gave Yusif 15 days to challenge the committal order.
Yusif’s extradition follows ongoing cooperation between Ghanaian and US authorities investigating an alleged international romance fraud network accused of targeting elderly Americans.
Earlier this month, Ghanaian socialite and businessman Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, was extradited to the United States after the High Court in Accra approved his surrender to US authorities.
US prosecutors allege that Abu Trica was part of a criminal network that used artificial intelligence (AI) tools to create fake online identities, establish romantic relationships with victims, and fraudulently obtain millions of dollars under false pretences.
Before his extradition, Abu Trica mounted several legal challenges to halt the process, all of which were dismissed by the High Court. His lawyer, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, had also alleged that he was denied access to his client before the extradition.
The latest court order paves the way for Daniel Yusif to also be transferred to the United States unless he successfully challenges the decision within the 15-day period.
