Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for La Nkwantanang-Madina, Ibrahim Faila Fuseini, has directed municipal officials to prosecute a landlord accused of constructing and occupying a house without the required building permit and failing to pay property-related levies.
In a video shared on X on Friday, July 24, 2026, Fuseini is seen instructing officials to take legal action against the landlord after they reported that he had repeatedly ignored notices to regularise his documents and settle outstanding payments.
According to the officials, the landlord had been issued several warnings but failed to comply.
“You see, this is the reason why sometimes we form development control task forces, and that is what we are doing today. Many of the buildings here do not have permits. Look at the building that you have been living in for over 12 years without paying. This receipt covers up to 2010,” Fuseini said.
He stressed that internally generated funds are critical to financing development projects within the municipality.
“See the road construction. If we don’t collect these monies, how can we finance this infrastructure? Take him straight away for prosecution at the court,” he instructed the officials.
The MCE said enforcing property rate payments and building regulations was necessary to improve revenue mobilisation and support development within the municipality.
