The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has launched an investigation into complaints about the quality and quantity of meals being served to pupils under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) at Buaduyili Primary School in the Nanumba North Municipality.
In a statement issued on June 9, 2026, the Ministry acknowledged reports highlighting concerns raised by parents and teachers over the meals provided to children at the school.
The Ministry assured the public that government remains committed to ensuring that pupils enrolled under the programme receive nutritious and adequate meals to support their education and wellbeing.
“The Ministry wishes to assure the public that Government remains firmly committed to ensuring that all beneficiary children under the Programme receive adequate, nutritious and quality meals,” the statement said.
The Ghana School Feeding Programme is one of the government’s flagship social intervention initiatives, designed to reduce hunger among schoolchildren, improve nutrition, and boost school enrolment and attendance.
According to the Ministry, the investigation is being conducted in collaboration with the Ghana School Feeding Programme Secretariat to establish the facts surrounding the allegations and determine whether standards under the programme have been breached.
The statement noted that authorities are working to “ascertain the facts and determine the circumstances surrounding the reported incident.”
It further warned that anyone found responsible for wrongdoing would face the appropriate sanctions.
“Appropriate sanctions will be applied to any individual or entity found culpable,” the Ministry stated.
The Ministry also indicated that government is implementing reforms under its Reset Agenda to strengthen the financing, monitoring and overall management of the School Feeding Programme to improve accountability, efficiency and service delivery.
“Any action or omission that undermines the objectives, standards and integrity of the Programme will not be tolerated,” the statement added.
The Ministry called on Regional and Zonal Coordinators, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, community leaders, parents, the media and the general public to continue supporting efforts to monitor the programme and promote transparency.
It concluded by reaffirming its commitment to protecting the integrity of the School Feeding Programme and ensuring that it continues to serve the best interests of Ghanaian children.
