A new poll by Global InfoAnalytics has found that Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is the preferred choice among respondents in a potential contest against National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia.
According to the survey results, Ato Forson secured 62% support, while Asiedu Nketia received 38%.
The poll also examined how supporters of other possible contenders might vote in a runoff between the two leading figures.
The data suggests that supporters of several potential candidates would largely shift their support to Ato Forson. Among supporters of former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, 68% indicated they would back Ato Forson, while 32% would support Asiedu Nketia.
Similarly, 66% of supporters linked to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa were shown backing Ato Forson, compared to 34% for Asiedu Nketia.
Supporters associated with Haruna Iddrisu also leaned towards Ato Forson by 66% to 34%.
The poll further showed overwhelming support for Ato Forson among supporters of Asiedu Nketia’s former deputy, Professor Joshua Alabi’s bloc, where 95% reportedly preferred the Finance Minister, with only 5% backing Asiedu Nketia.
The only category where Asiedu Nketia held a clear advantage was among his own supporters, with 91% remaining loyal to him and 9% switching to Ato Forson.
