Days after his release from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Dennis Miracles Aboagye has stated that politics should be about competing ideas rather than personal attacks.
Speaking on the MAYN podcast, the aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said he deliberately avoids insulting political opponents despite facing criticism himself.
“Politics is not meant to be like a war, just competing ideas,” he said.
Aboagye explained that political communicators speak to different audiences, including loyal supporters of both major parties and politically neutral Ghanaians.
“What you are saying may not be wrong, but because you are MPP and it goes against a hardline NDC supporter, he will have to come at you,” he said.
According to him, understanding these different audiences helps him avoid taking criticism personally.
“I don’t have to have an issue with you,” he said, adding that disagreements should not become personal conflicts.
