New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant Awentami Paul Afoko says the party’s vetting committee asked deep and relevant questions that could shape how aspirants prepare the party for the 2028 elections.
Speaking after his vetting on Monday, August 31, which coincided with his birthday, Afoko said the process focused largely on party organisation and allowed for open and frank discussions.
“They asked very deep and incisive questions, largely to do with the party organisation. And the most impressive thing is that there was very open and frank conversation and discussion,” he said.
Afoko said some of the questions went beyond what he had anticipated and could force aspirants to strengthen their plans and strategies ahead of 2028.
“I am confident that with this vetting committee in place, things that even some of us may not have thought of, those questions arising will force us to include them in our plans and strategy working towards 2028,” he stated.
He also commended the committee for what he described as a fair and firm vetting process.
“I think the vetting committee was fair and firm. And they asked questions, some of them I didn’t anticipate. But it went well,” Afoko added.
The NPP began vetting 47 national officer aspirants on August 31, 2026, after 47 of the 50 people who initially purchased nomination forms successfully filed to contest the party’s upcoming National Officers Elections.
