Dennis Miracles Aboagye has shared that emotional intelligence has helped him manage pressure and criticism throughout his political career.

Speaking on the MAYN podcast days after his release from EOCO, the former presidential staffer said controlling his reactions was a skill he consciously developed over time.

“Emotional intelligence is critical, not just in politics, but in the whole life,” he said.

Aboagye explained that he has trained himself not to respond immediately to situations that may provoke him.

“I’ve taken my time to master it. It was something I deliberately built. No emotions. I have it, but I would bottle it in me. But I won’t show you. I won’t let you know how I feel,” he said.

He said public figures often find themselves under scrutiny, making emotional control important when engaging with people.

“Imagine you’re on TV3. You’re on Metro TV. There are millions of people watching you. Then you embarrass yourself. No, no. I would never do that,” he said.

Aboagye said responding to every criticism or provocation can create unnecessary problems.

“You don’t have to react to everything,” he said.

He cited examples of people facing long-term consequences because of decisions made in moments of anger.

“There are people in jail for a one-second messy decision,” he said.

Aboagye said his decision to control his emotions is aimed at maintaining peace and focus.
