The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, on Thursday, 17th September, 2026, inspected ongoing rehabilitation works on the dining hall of Salaga Senior High School (SASS) as part of her constituency engagements.
During the visit, the contractor and his team were actively on site undertaking roofing and plumbing works.
According to the MP, the dining hall is one of the most dilapidated facilities in the school and has not seen any major rehabilitation since its construction. She said she has therefore taken the initiative to sponsor its comprehensive rehabilitation as part of preparations towards the school’s 50th Anniversary celebration scheduled for November this year.
The rehabilitation project comprises: Complete re-roofing of the dining hall, installation of a new ceiling, renovation of the storerooms and Matron’s office, construction of a modern kitchen, complete rewiring of the facility, installation of new ceiling fans, construction of wash-hand basins, installation of modern sliding windows and metal doors and provision of tables and benches to properly furnish the dining hall.
Hajia Zuwera explained that the dining hall remains one of the most important facilities in a boarding school, serving not only as a place for students to have their meals but also as a venue for important school activities and programmes. She noted that improving the facility will contribute significantly to the welfare, health, comfort and dignity of students.
She expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and commended the contractor and his team for their efforts, while urging them to maintain required standards and quality and to work diligently to complete the project within the agreed timeframe.
On behalf of her constituents, students, staff and management of Salaga SHS, the MP expressed sincere appreciation to development partners, particularly the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the National Investment Bank (NIB), for their support towards the execution of the project.
She added that as Salaga SHS prepares to commemorate 50 years of academic and institutional development, it is important to continue investing in facilities that will enhance teaching, learning and general welfare of students.
“By the grace of Allah, we will continue to work with all relevant stakeholders towards creating a conducive environment for our students and advancing the development of our constituency,” she stated.
