2026 World Cup: Antoine Semenyo is our poster boy – Agyemang Badu

Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has called on Antoine Semenyo to play a leading role for the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana have been drawn in a tough Group L alongside Croatia, England, and Panama. Expectations are growing on the Bournemouth forward following Mohammed Kudus’ injury and concerns about captain Jordan Ayew’s recent form.

Agyemang Badu, who played 78 times for the Black Stars, believes Semenyo’s strength, intelligence, and ability to use both feet make him an important player for coach Carlos Queiroz.

“He is our poster boy… he has been with a great coach, and he has given him ample time to do whatever he wants on the pitch,” Agyemang Badu told Pan Africa Football.

“And that’s why we have to use him. He needs a bit of space so that he can progress the ball very well because he is good with both legs. He is very strong on the ball and a very intelligent player.”

“For now, we will rely on him without any pressure. He should come and enjoy his football and help us qualify from the group without pressure.”
